Why I am Interested in Earning an MBA

This is an essay I wrote to Jack Welsh Management Institute (JWMI) during my application for studies, enjoy!

Why am I interested in earning an MBA, really? This is me asking myself this question...

The above question might truly seem like an irrelevant question to ask, even if you are someone interested in earning an MBA, someone like me, but it's not. It may also come as a surprise to the one reading this that it took me a while to decide which topic to write my essay on. I finally decided to choose the one that will give me the real sense of why I am earnestly interested in earning an MBA. I like this topic because answering this question will automatically gear me up for the interesting, joyful and yet challenging journey ahead.

With that being said, here are my 7 (seven) reasons why I am interested in earning an MBA. Why seven reasons? You may ask...

Although many people may not believe in numbers, I do and have personally witnessed their significance and complete influence in every aspect of my life and the lives of those around me. If you bear with me and allow me to share something with you, something totally out of the ordinary, something which I think will not only open the eyes of anyone willing to read this essay with an open mind, but also change their lives for good. I would like to share with you what is called 'prophetic' meanings of numbers (from 1 to 7) before I mention my seven reasons why I am interested in

earning an MBA.

Prophetic Number One (1)

Prophetically, number one has a significant meaning referring to wholeness or perfect union. It refers to that which God desires. Before Jesus left earth, He prayed for oneness:

(Verse 20) "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray for also for those who will believe in me through their message, (Verse 21) that all of them many be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." - John 17:20-21 (NIV)

From the above Scripture verses, we learn (even though some may not believe in God) that it says Jesus prayed for the disciples to be one in Him and God. That is, He wanted them to be whole, or reach a state of perfect union. Therefore, since I am the Director of a company (PNP AIIIH (Pty) Ltd), a company that aims at employing as many people as possible, it is of utmost importance that I learn to apply what I have learned from what Jesus did. This means that in order for my company to succeed and become that which I desire it to become, there has to be wholeness or perfect union (oneness) between me as the Director and everyone in my company. This is where companies and organizations derive their missions and visions from. You see, when we all are of one mind and purpose, we become unstoppable!

Prophetic Number Two (2)

Prophetically number two refers to witness. From the Old Testament, two has been used in order to serve as a testimony. God said to the children of Israel: "This day call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today..." - Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)

From the above Scripture, we learn the importance of having a witness in everything we do. What does this really mean? You see, where two (or more) people witness anything in life, there is what we call a testimony, and where there is a testimony, there is transparency. THIS is what is needed in any organization, this is what I want to see happening or taking place in my company and every aspect of my life.

Prophetic Number Three (3)

Prophetically, number three is divine completion and perfection. A human being is not just a body, but has three components: body, soul and spirit. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:23 which says: "...May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."). Therefore, there is no perfection of a human being if all these parts are not covered. The Bible records: "...Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected." - Luke 13:32

When our spirit, soul and body are perfected, we can achieve anything. Can you imagine being perfect? But how does one achieve this? Firstly, a person's spirit can only be perfected through Salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Savior. If you have not received Him as your Savior, I advise that you do it by praying this simple prayer:

"Heavenly Father, today I accept you as my Lord and personal Savior. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the Cross for the forgiveness of my sins. Wash me with your blood and forgive me for my sins. I believe that through this prayer in faith that all my sins are now forgiven. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. Amen."

If this is the first time you have prayed this simple prayer above, I congratulate you. God has forgiven all your sins. Your spirit is perfected ( I know you might not believe this but it's true, you only need to renew your mind to this TRUTH and knowledge).

Now, as far as perfection of the mind is concerned, this is something you must do out of your own will. It is a continuous process of renewing your mind. See Romans 12:2 which says: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."

What about your body?

Your body will be saved at the last trumpet – a topic for another day (For further studies, see 1 Corinthians 15:50-54). But for now, while you are still in this world, you can be in perfect health by believing that by His wounds, you have been healed (See 1 Peter 2:24). Notice that 1 Peter 2:24 does not say by His wounds you will be healed, but it says that you have been healed! This means you can believe right now that you have been healed, and you will receive your healing! Amazing stuff!

Bear with me one second here and imagine yourself in a condition where your spirit, soul (mind) and body are in a perfect condition. Just a thought, but I know it's possible. And when this is what we as human beings are able to experience, imagine what my company with perfect employees working with me and not for me would be like.

At this stage (for the sake of being restricted to writing an essay of 400 to 600 words, forgive me I know I have already exceeded the limit), I would like to jump to number seven (7). I would advise that you research other Prophetic numbers on your own, it will really be of help to you and those around you.

Prophetic Number Seven (7)

This number signifies spiritual perfection or completeness. It is different to number three in that it refers to the state of rest. This means that, not only is there completeness, but there is also a state of rest.

(Verse 2)"By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work. (Verse 3) Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy , because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done." - Genesis 2:2-3 (NIV)

You see, when one reaches a state of spiritual perfection or completeness, they rest from depending on their strength, abilities and self knowledge and know-how; but let go and let God.

What is my motivation for being interested in earning an MBA?

In simple terms, I am not motivated but I am led to it. I believe that in all Creation, there is a Power and Divine Force responsible for everything and everyone in this universe. I am simply inspired to know more than what I already know. I believe this course will help me apply the knowledge I already have to our daily lives. I even took the liberty of browsing through the course subjects and I am more eager to get started than I was in the beginning.

What 3 things do I hope to accomplish during your leadership journey at JWMI and why?

I have every reason to believe that this question has already been answered above.

My action plan for maintaining academic success in the MBA program.

Simply put, I will set aside a minimum two (2) hours daily to study what I have learned, and begin to apply it in my daily life, nothing less. With this being said, I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity to share my thoughts with you, it has been a great pleasure. I hope to have a great experience with JWMI.
